"It’s not about defending money or the world number one spot": Price not putting emphasis on rankings ahead of Van Barneveld clash

Gerwyn Price will head into his tie with Raymond van Barneveld at the PDC World Darts Championship with a potential drop to World Number Four incoming.

But for Price, it isn't about that with no emphasis put on the rankings more winning the tournament and sealing titles. He also says he is ready to face Van Barneveld who defeated him twice at the Grand Slam of Darts.

“Winning any game gives you confidence, but I’d rather not put myself in those situations all the time,” said Price.

“It’s not about defending money or the world number one spot because I don’t really put too much emphasis on that, but if I can win this tournament and stay there, I’m happy.”

“When my back is against the wall and I need to have those big moments, they are there,” added Price.

“In the last three or four months I’ve started to find my feet again. I know in my head that the form is there, and I know how well I can play.

“Raymond is playing some decent darts lately. It’s going to be a fantastic game, but I’m ready for it.”
