"I don't see a ceiling in his game" - Wayne Mardle compares Luke Littler to Bristow and Van Gerwen in heavy praise

Luke Littler has no ceiling in his game according to Wayne Mardle of Sky Sports Darts. 'Hawaii 501' came to this conclusion after the teenager won his first weekly title of the Premier League Darts season on Thursday night.

Littler had won 6-5 in his first match against Luke Humphries, who had been unbeaten in the Premier League for three weeks. After that, the teenage sensation triumphed 6-3 against Michael van Gerwen. He then beat Nathan Aspinall 6-4 in the final.

It is the latest success in Littler's short but impressive professional career. It all started, of course, with his runner-up finish at the World Darts Championship, followed by his win at the Bahrain Darts Masters in January. After that, Littler also won the first Players Championship tournament and the first Euro Tour tournament of the year. In that interim, Littler also managed to throw three nine-darters.

Mardle is understandably, hugely impressed with the 17-year-old wonderkid. "He does what he likes. I think this might be the way forward for many players. Don't worry about it and get on with it," said Mardle on Sky Sports. "It's just great to watch. He so reminds me of Michael [Van Gerwen]. I don't see a ceiling in his game, I just think that he can play as well as he likes sometimes."

"Look at the 114 average he had against MVG a few weeks ago, I just see that he can do these amazing things with a set of 22g tungsten. It's just madness what he can do at such a ripe old age of 17," continues the ex-pro turned analyst. "I've never seen anyone be like Michael van Gerwen. Probably the closest anyone came, or maybe even better, was Eric Bristow at 17. Not bad names to be connected with."
