Scott Williams was soundly beaten 6-2 by Ricky Evans in a battle of the darting showman at the
Belgian Darts Open in Wieze but it was one in which 'Shaggy' takes some positives from despite pretty poor doubling from the World No.44.
Williams averaged just 83.48 at the
Belgian Darts Open but it wasn't really his scoring that was the issue, it was more so an issue with the outer ring that saw him not at his flying best. But he said post match on his Instagram story that is all very much relative after recent problems with dartitis.
'Shaggy' was buoyant initially after a clip was posted heavily on social media and circulated around the media of him failing to release a dart during a ProTour match and said that it was 'treated like cancer'.
But he has since opened up on how it has affected him in terms of his ranking fight and that he is determined to overcome it and while he may have lost today, he saw some encouraging signs amid his struggles. He said that while the issue is still impacting him, he has a strong support network there to help him.
Hope amid a poor display
He also added that he will remain in Belgium over the weekend also to support Josh Rock, one of his close friends who starts action tomorrow. 'Rocky' himself is going through his own issues right now with the Premier League seeing him failing to win a game yet in what has been a bit of a nightmare. But both will hope that the nightmare soon ceases.
โWell done Ricky there, that was a great game. His scoring was decent for the most part and his doubles were very good," he said on Instagram.
Hope despite defeat for Scott Williams.
โFair play to you, my man. I appreciate you and all the best tomorrow against Ryan Searle. I have positives from that. You guys will see this and go I was dog s***. I actually have positives from that because I have been struggling recently with dartitis.
โBut I have the right guys around me and the right team. I have people supporting me and pushing me through this. So, thank you to them guys and also all the best to Ricky. I am going to be here [in Belgium] for the rest of the weekend, so I am going to have a great time.
โI am going to be supporting Josh Rock. I love you guys and thank you so much for your support.โ
