"I heard yelling, and it dawned on me—I was in the wrong place!” - Vincent van der Voort recalls hilarious mix-up at the Primus Masters

Vincent van der Voort is always good for a great story, and he proved it once again in a recent episode of the Darts Draait Door podcast. The 49-year-old former professional shared a hilarious anecdote from a tournament held at a Belgian holiday park, leaving both the host and listeners in stitches.

“Back in the day, we had the Primus Masters,” Van der Voort began. “It was a darts tournament organized at a holiday park in Belgium until 2009. It was non-stop darts during the day, followed by lively parties in the evenings. One night, I decided to join the festivities. But on my way back… well, all those cottages looked the same. I ended up walking into the wrong one, thinking it was mine. I sat down on the sofa—only to realize I was in a stranger’s house!”

As if making himself at home wasn’t enough, Van der Voort even raided the fridge. “I opened it and thought, ‘Damn, they’ve finished everything!’ But then I heard yelling, and it dawned on me—I was in the wrong place!”

Podcast host Damian Vlottes couldn’t help but point out how startled the actual residents must have been. “Well, they should have locked the door,” Van der Voort laughed. “Or maybe they were waiting for someone to come home.”

The story dates back to the early 2000s, during one of the many editions of the Primus Masters. “I’ve been around for a while,” Van der Voort added with a chuckle. “A real dinosaur. But those were fantastic tournaments—I loved going there.”

Vlottes saw the funny side of it all. “If anyone listening recognizes this story, let us know. We’ll provide some trauma counseling, because I can imagine that was quite a shock!” he joked.

Van der Voort’s response? “And once again, my sincerest apologies!”
