“I just want to win, I want to keep achieving better things": Smith not focusing on winning streak despite back-to-back TV titles

Michael Smith will face Darius Labanauskas in the first round of the Nordic Darts Masters this evening but despite winning back-to-back titles, a winning streak is not his focus.
Albeit Smith does want to keep winning and will hope to do so in Copenhagen ahead of Masters and Premier League to come in the next few weeks.

“I don’t want to focus too much on a winning streak because you put added pressure on yourself,” said Smith, who secured his third World Series of Darts title in Bahrain last week.
“I just want to win, I want to keep achieving better things. My World Championship win still hasn’t sunk in yet but that’s good, because it’s giving me more hunger to win more titles.
“I know Darius is a dangerous player, so I’ve got to be on my game. It should be fun, it should be exciting and hopefully I can keep this run going.”

- It happens. Remember, anyone who has watched German and Dutch players in matches - their respective countries will have seen/heard just as bad jeering (if not worse). - Was watching an old World Masters final the other day between Eric Bristow and John Lowe, the crowd respect for both players on throw was first class, not a sound. You can imagine now the idiots who were whistling on De Deckers throw proudly boasting about it on social media. I blame the PDC to a certain extent though doubt they really care as they win regardless of which player wins or loses.Mysstree16-11-2024

I even turned to my husband and said "Could you imagine this happening if Russ Bray was the referee tonight? At least there would have been a crowd admonishment- Ladies and Gentleman please."
