"I lost my case, lost my darts": Gerwyn Price astonishingly wins Poland Darts Masters despite luggage mishap

Gerwyn Price was back in business as he denied Stephen Bunting superbly 8-7 in the final of the Poland Darts Masters to deny the king of the World Series this year yet another title.

Price had to produce an epic double double foray to deny Bunting and he said afterwards that he was frustrated with how he played at times having had a good weekend until the final. But that all that matters in his own mind is that he won the title and has gained the confidence that it brings.
"It's nice to get back on the winning stage and getting trophies again but I felt like I was a bit frustrated all the way through that game. Trying too hard to get a leg in front and trying to break him but at the end I've done it. I missed a couple of match darts where I was probably 7-6 up where I could've lost it but double double finish," said Price as per Miłosz Szkudlarek.
But while he managed to win the title, it was done with another handicap as he did it without his darts or most of his luggage after they got lost in arriving to Poland so he had to get a new setup and file down the points.
"I missed loads of doubles and kept Stephen in the game. But I played really well against Rob, I was a bit frustrated with myself in the final but that's the way it goes sometimes. I played really well against Chris (Dobey), Rob (Cross). Got frustrated but I won and that's all that matters. Otherwise I'd beat myself up for a couple of days."
"I'm quite chuffed that I won considering the circumstances. I lost my case, lost my darts, had a brand new set of darts. I felt the points were too long so I was filing them down for two days so to be mentally strong and come through games I wasn't 100% confident. It shows I've got great character and strength and depth."
"I'll probably keep these darts now and finish with them the rest of the year. It gives me confidence leading into the World Matchplay."

But while he did face some adversity with the crowd over the weekend at times, he said that he is used to it as he moves onto the ProTour this week then Kiel at the weekend.
"When you're playing a home favourite it can be difficult but I weathered the storm more than anyone else."

- I don't really understand why its an issue that Littler doesn't play in the events, they are barely televised so there is no draw for marketing and it gives the other players a better chance to define their narratives. The events are more of a throw back to old events. - Not everyone wants to watch pub players throwing 70 averages for about £500. Premier League is indeed a cash cow, but it does its job of promoting the game. - Laura looking fantastic and obviously has a hidden talent as a dart player. It was so nice to see her shock and joy of hitting that triple 20 I miss Laura, she was excellent and very knowledgeable regarding darts.
