“I need to relax and chill out" - Luke Littler opts for complete break from darts after record-breaking World Matchplay heroics

After weeks in which he once again bent the darts world to his will, Luke Littler has temporarily put his darts away. The reigning world champion is currently enjoying a well-earned holiday in the United States, relaxing in Orlando with his girlfriend Faith Millar.

Fresh off the back of his record-breaking triumph at the World Matchplay, the 19-year-old Englishman swapped the oche for the rides at Universal Studios. On social media, Littler shared a photo of himself and his girlfriend clearly soaking up the Florida sun.

Faith Millar, a beauty therapist from Wigan, has been a key support for Littler for more than a year.

After a spell in which the world number one ticked off one international commitment after another, the young couple have finally found the chance to go on holiday together.

Despite the fact that Littler can make history this year by becoming the first player ever to win all eight PDC ranking majors in a single calendar year, he is determined not to think about darts during his holiday.

“I need to relax, go to America, chill out, not think about darts and come back for the World Series,” Littler said. “I won’t be throwing darts in America, I’ll be chilling out.”

That choice also means Littler will not defend his titles at the World Series events in Australia and New Zealand later this month. Instead of the long trip to Oceania, the Englishman has deliberately opted for rest and time with his family and girlfriend.

A laid-back August stands in stark contrast to the rest of Littler’s formidable 2026. The English sensation has already won every PDC ranking major played so far this calendar year and is on course for a unique feat. His self-belief remains undiminished. “I’m feeling very good. The clean sweep is very much on.”

To actually complete that historic achievement, Littler must also win the World Grand Prix, the European Championship, the Grand Slam of Darts, and the Players Championship Finals later this year.

Strikingly, the biggest challenge may not even be winning those TV events, but securing a place at the Players Championship Finals.

Although Littler is the defending champion in Minehead, he has yet to qualify for the tournament. The world champion skipped all Players Championship events on the ProTour this season, leaving him short of the prize money needed to qualify.

According to current projections, Littler needs roughly £22,500 in ProTour prize money to secure a spot at the Players Championship Finals. That event could be the final step towards an unprecedented clean sweep of all eight PDC majors.

After his holiday in Orlando, Littler will return to Europe at the end of August. His first stop is the Mattioli Arena in Leicester, where £15,000 awaits the winner and where he aims to launch his push for Players Championship Finals qualification.
