Michael Van Gerwen is currently sitting 5th in the Premier League of Darts table going into week 12 in Liverpool, 1 place outside the play offs. He has stated it has not been "easy" for him so far this year.
The Dutchman has returned to winning ways with a superb victory at the German Darts Grand Prix in Munich on Monday, whilst also getting a 9 dart finish in round 3 against Ryan Searle. He hopes this can be the "catalyst" for his play off push going into Liverpool tonight.
“We all know I’m in a tough position in the Premier League,” said Van Gerwen. "Everyone who knows me knows that I never give up. I always keep battling. I always keep fighting, and that’s what you need to do.
“In the last few weeks I’ve been playing poorly. I’ve been battling myself, but I know I have it in me to perform." Van Gerwen's explains his battles to the reasoning of why he isn't in the top 4 at the moment for the Premier League. The 35 year old also missed a week in Berlin due to an injury which did not help his confidence going forward.
The dark gloom has seemed to start to disappear for Michael van Gerwen after his win in Germany on Monday. “Winning in Munich meant the world to me, and that win will probably give me the confidence I needed.” Will we see MVG get another nightly win in Liverpool tonight to put him back into the play offs.
Van Gerwen is level on points with fourth placed Gerwyn Price. Price will start off against Chris Dobey whilst MVG will go and play top of the table, Luke Littler. Tune in from 7pm GBT to see how it all plays out tonight in Liverpool.
