Last Thursday, the new season of the Premier League Darts kicked off once again. On opening night in Cardiff, home favourite Gerwyn Price went down 6-2 against Michael Smith in the final.

Despite the defeat, Price had enjoyed playing in his hometown. "I don't get it often but coming to Cardiff is the best thing for me," he said in conversation with Red Dragon. "I never really get cheered, but I do when I come to Cardiff!"

Price debuted within the PDC in 2014, before that he played rugby at a high level for many years. "When I beat Michael Smith and Adrian Lewis at the World Matchplay I sort of realised I had something here and that I needed to choose between rugby and darts," Price recalls. "I wasn't getting any younger so I took the darts on."

As a massive rugby fan, it's a big time for Price at the moment with the Six Nations getting underway last weekend. For Wales, it was a rocky start as they went down 27-26 to Scotland. "They're like Luke Littler," Price says of his beloved Welsh team. "They're young, they have nothing to lose and they'll go out and play with their hearts on their sleeves."
