Gerwyn Price doubled his title tally for the season seeing off Ian White in a resurgent run for the latter at Players Championship Nine in Leicester on Monday.
A tournament which in reality it was a surprise he attended. This due to the fact that he was recently injured and had to withdraw from exhibitions over the weekend. But as he said himself, it is his bread and butter and he needed to be there and perform.
"I was a little bit p**d off in the Premier League last week. I was struggling with a little bit of an injury so sorted that out. I didn't feel too good at the beginning of today, I was a little bit up and down in games. One minute I'm playing well, the next minute no confidence at all. But a win's a win and that'll give me a boost for tomorrow (Tuesday)," said Price post final.
"It's not 100%, like today I was a little bit inconsistent. But I battled on. In the past I'd probably throw those games away but I stuck in there until the end and I won. It gives me a good boost of confidence for tomorrow and the Premier League next week."
He hit a 114.36 average to take down Brendan Dolan but in reality he said that it doesn't matter much as he did similar against Michael van Gerwen on the European Tour recently and lost so he needs to keep his foot on the jugular so to speak.
"But I did that against Michael in the European Tour the other week, 4-1 up and lost 6-4. I need to keep on top, it doesn't matter how good you're playing. People can come back and beat you."
But despite his injury issues, it was a title he always felt in the water that he was going to win.
"Even though I didn't feel good this morning, I sat on the table with James Wade and said I'm winning today. He said no I'm on your half. Every game went on and on and he lost to Brendan and I said James you were scared of me today that's why you lost."
🗣️ "I was struggling with a little bit of an injury last week, so this will give me a good boost of confidence."
