"I think you've got a case": Adrian Lewis admits to being darting underachiever during darting break

Adrian Lewis announced a break in his career last year. However, the two-time former world champion is thinking about returning with the MODUS Super Series and maybe even the World Championship qualifier at the turn of the year on his mind. The 39-year-old won four majors so far in his career.

Lewis was heralded as an absolute top talent at an early age. As such, four major titles seems few given his immense talent. "I think you've got a case," he said on Club 501 with Wayne Mardle.

"I think if you look at it, the amount of times I played Phil (Taylor) in finals. I probably made another 12/13 major finals. I lost to Phil averaging 108 and averaging over 100 and losing. It is what it is. You can't win them all."

Luke Littler is regularly compared to Adrian Lewis

New sensation Luke Littler is sometimes compared to Lewis, as they both performed strongly at a young age. "I think I was a bit more daft to be honest. Let's put things right. He seems a lot more mellow. For such a young age, I think he's incredible. He's got everything."

World Championship

Littler is still waiting for his first world title; Lewis won the World Championship in 2011 and 2012. "When you start off your aim is to be the World Champion. That is my ultimate aim so to win the first, it's special."

After his second consecutive world title in 2012, Lewis shouted on stage that he was the best player in the world. "Keith Deller (his manager at the time) was telling me I'm the best in the world. Did I mean that? I'm humble."
