"I want genuine elves, I want reindeer, I want to throw snowballs" - Ricky Evans' outlandish plans for Christmas themed Ally Pally walk-on this December

On Thursday, Dec. 11, the 2026 PDC World Darts Championship gets underway at Alexandra Palace. A traditional staple of festive period, many players have been inspired in the last to use a special, Christmas themed walk-on. Peter Wright has entered dressed as Santa Claus and the Grinch, with Ricky Evans using Shakin' Stevens Christmas classic. The latter wants to do something special again this year.
Evans' walk-ons are always a sight to behold at the World Darts Championship, and with the aforementioned Christmas classic Merry Christmas Everyone by Shakin' Stevens, Evans has made himself particularly popular with the Ally Pally audience.
Evans also wore a special Christmas shirt each time. "It'll be the same Christmas walk-on this year, I know that," said the 35-year-old Englishman recently in conversation with Tungsten Tales. "It might be a different shirt this year, I'll have some Christmas trousers."
But Evans has more plans. "I want to walk on with genuine elves," he says excitedly. "I want elves to walk me on, I want reindeer, I'd like to throw snowballs into the crowd with presents or flights in it. But I think there's too much health and safety involved with some of those walk-ons."

However, Evans says he has nothing to do with Christmas. "I'm someone that hates Christmas by the way," he says. "But I love doing the Christmas walk-on. Everyone seems to be in the party mood, and it gets then on my side as well. I'll always do it, but I've got a sneaky feeling a few others might get Christmas shirts or do Christmas walk-ons now because they've seen my popularity."
Evans reached the quarter-finals at the Grand Slam of Darts last week, moving up to 40th in the updated PDC Order of Merit. 'Rapid' now sets his sights on the Players Championship Finals, which kick off next Friday at Butlin's Minehead. In the opening round, Evans will take on fifteenth-seeded Dutchman Danny Noppert.

- Congratulations Zehra, an excellent performance, 3-0 was harsh on Rebecca, she played well and actually won a decent trophy better than what Zehra won. I think it is extremely poor and insulting that the girls prize money is half of what the boys win. At that level it should be equal, girls wanting to take up darts will see the injustice of winnings and could think twice about taking up the sport. Ultimately, winning is the only thing that matters, but I would be vocal about prize money if the female equivalent was double the amount.richieburnettrocks08-12-2025
- Having been at Lakeside all week, I am glad it's over. It is not the same and the atmosphere is completely flat. Ultimately, I think they should reduce the format for the men, just make it 32 not 64. It's very long winded and completely rushed and compacted towards the last few days. Mitchell is an excellent player but had to play a 6 set boys final just hours before his 9 set mens final. If the whole competition was spread out he would have not been forced to play 2 major finals in an afternoon, it is ridiculous and Sophie McKinlay had the same situation last year.richieburnettrocks08-12-2025

- Sophie v Paige warranted a final and deserved a longer format, despite the completely shambolic start to the match regarding the scoring which I think unnerved both players, it was an excellent game. Both are outstanding players with great futures in darts. It was a shame such talented players had to meet so early and that Paige is out, she is brilliant and blitzed Sophie in that first set. Fantastic comeback from Sophie, so calm and nonchalant, survived a real scare but hope she becomes World Champion.richieburnettrocks04-12-2025
