Ian White, Matt Campbell, William O'Connor among qualifiers for Austrian Darts Open

The Austrian Darts Open is basically set with the 10 players who will join the field for the fifth European Tour which will be held between April 25-27. Ian White, Matt Campbell and William O'Connor are among the lead names.
White who reached a ProTour final this past two days beat Stefaan Henderyck 6-4 in the final round. Niko Springer saw off his compatriot Lukas Wenig.
While Mickey Mansell, Chris Landman, Nathan Rafferty are through. As is Karel Sedlacek. Tom Bissell will make his debut in Graz at the end of the month after winning through 6-4 over Cam Crabtree.
But it was the performance of William O'Connor which impressed the most. The Irishman won through averaging 107.20 in a 6-2 win over Jelle Klaasen. Matt Campbell who has recently impressed on the European Tour also booked his spot in a 6-3 win over Matthew Dennant.
The top-16 of the world rankings and the top-16 of the cleaned Pro Tour rankings have already received invitations to the Austrian Darts Open. That means that players such as Jonny Clayton, Nathan Aspinall, Gerwyn Price, Peter Wright, Danny Noppert, Dimitri van den Bergh, Mike de Decker and Raymond van Barneveld not have to play a qualifying tournament.
It became clear earlier that Luke Humphries, Luke Luke Littler, Michael van Gerwen, Rob Cross and Gary Anderson had decided to skip the Euro Tour tournament in Austria.

- I agree. There needs to be a points system and preferably just a rolling one year. World Championship should earn the most points though it can be argued that the current qualification system does see a fair few players qualify from regional country qualifiers who would struggle to hold down a place on the Pro Tour. If prize money won is going to remain as the determining factor for ranking then the World Championship should just consist of the 128 Tour Card Holders. Another option would be to take the World Championship out of the rankings and have it as the stand alone pinnacle that you qualify for by winning certain tournaments or your ranking position, sort of like a GSOD+.Mysstree05-04-2025

- obviously littler has the potential to surpass everybody simply because nobody has been this good at this age before, but people who think he would be any kind of favourite right now against prime taylor in a big final have short memories. it's obvious that prime taylor wouldn't win as many world titles if he was playing today, but there's also good reason to believe he'd be winning more than anybody else. hell, his statistical profile still stands alone in darts history and he might statistically be even better if he was playing today with better equipment, larger beds, more competition therefore more motivation, etc.colt24-03-2025
