The final night of the league phase of the 2024
Premier League Darts takes place this Thursday evening in Sheffield. Michael Smith and Nathan will battle it out for the remaining playoff spot whilst both
Luke Humphries and
Luke Littler are still in with a shout at topping the table.
As always, former Premier League Darts player turned Sky Sports expert,
Wayne Mardle has taken a look at the night's schedule and made his predictions for the evening in conversation with William Hill. With so much at stake on a massive night of darts, could there be a surprise winner to campaign on a high?
"It's that time of the week again. It's Premier League time and it's the final week of the league phase," Hawaii 501 begins in his address to William Hill's social media followers. "Massive night, absolutely gigantic. Although not for everyone mind..."
With the draw for the final night's play seeing 1st vs 8th, 2nd vs 7th, 3rd vs 6th and 4th vs 5th, table topper Luke Littler faces off against the wooden spoon,
Peter Wright. "Who do I think is going to win the night? I went for Littler last week but it didn't work out," Mardle recalls. "I'm going to go Humphries."
Answering firmly, Mardle could also see Humphries potentially overthrowing Littler at the top of the pile. "The jeopardy here is, if he wins the night like I think he's going to, and Luke Littler loses to Peter Wright, Humphries wins the table!" Mardle acknowledges with glee. "What a turnaround! So I'm going to go Luke Humphries to win Night 16 in Sheffield. Who will he beat in the final? Who cares!" Mardle concludes.
