Former world star
Colin Lloyd is convinced there’s much more to come from
Beau Greaves. According to Lloyd, the 22-year-old has all the tools to compete consistently at the highest level — and possibly even win a major title — provided everything comes together at the right time.
High averages
Lloyd, himself a former world number one and winner of multiple majors, analyzed Greaves’s current development and her position within the PDC’s professional circuit, where she has been competing full-time this year after securing her
PDC Tour Card. He stressed that success is not primarily about a favorable draw, but about delivering consistently.
"If everything falls into place for her – and I don’t just mean the draw opening up – I mean the consistency that we know she’s capable of producing with those big averages," Lloyd explains.
According to Lloyd, that is the key to success in modern darts. Players who keep posting big numbers automatically create chances in matches. "if you’re putting in big averages, you’re creating opportunities for yourself and you’re taking them. When that happens, it becomes so difficult for any opponent to break you down. She’s got all of that. She’s got all the attributes. And if it all comes together at a major, I’m not going to say she can’t do it, because I genuinely believe she can."
Majors as the next step
The question increasingly being asked in the darts world is whether Greaves can win a major PDC event. Lloyd certainly doesn’t rule it out. "What she needs is a consistent 12 months. Then you can really start attacking those bigger events because you’ve got the full 12-month cycle to try and get yourself into tournaments like the Matchplay and the Grand Prix."
Still, the former top player emphasizes there’s work to be done. Despite her impressive achievements in recent years, he sees room for further development. "Of course, she’s still got to keep improving. As good as she already is, there’s still more development to come. But first and foremost, it’s about qualifying for the events. As you mentioned, there are big players who don’t find a way to qualify for these tournaments, and that takes you out of the running straight away."

A consistent season is crucial
One of the main points for Lloyd is simply getting into the big tournaments. Under the current PDC system, a player must first qualify before having any chance of success. That’s why, according to Lloyd, Greaves needs a stable and consistent year on tour.
Alongside the big TV events, former professional Mark Webster also points to the growing importance of the PDC European Tour. He believes those events play a crucial role in player development and in their position on the world rankings. "European Tour qualification is also huge. Those events carry so much prize money, so if she can start qualifying for them and put together a good run, that will really help boost her ranking."
That prize money counts toward the
Order of Merit, the ranking that determines who gets into the PDC’s biggest events.
Settling into Pro Tour life
Despite the challenges, Webster sees mainly positive signs in Greaves’s progression. He believes she has adapted remarkably well to the intensity of the professional tour. "But from where I’m standing, everything is progressing nicely at the moment. She’s adapted really well to life on the ProTour, and she’ll continue to manage that over the coming months and years."
Playing a full PDC schedule is physically and mentally demanding, with plenty of travel and events almost every week. Still, Lloyd feels Greaves is finding her way.
