"If you have to give up work to come and play a professional game, that's the way it should be": Gerwyn Price gives opinion on ProTour mid week switch

Gerwyn Price survived a scare as he took out Danny Noppert in a loss that could've been catastrophic for his rankings at the World Grand Prix.

Price is defending lots of money in the next few months. But hopes that added pressure acts as a catalyst as opposed to one for a downward spiral.

"I'm defending a final spot so I'm defending £50,000 so I need to be in this right until the end. Hopefully I am and I can lift the trophy," said Price.

"I'm not just defending the final in this. I'm defending a win in the Grand Slam and I'm defending a semi-final at the World's. So it's a busy time of the year and I know what I'm defending. That added pressure makes me pull my finger out and play a little bit better."

He also discussed the changes from the PDC to shift to mid week which Price agrees with but with a caveat, he said that he does if they don't stack the weekends as a result given his role as well as an elite player with Premier League also during the week.

"It's a professional game. If you have to give up work to come and play a professional game, that's the way it should be. I don't agree with Players Championship in the week and European Tours on the weekend so you practically don't have a life. As far as the ProTours in the mid week though, I agree with those."
