"I'm 100% fit": Van Gerwen ready and raring to go ahead of Premier League Darts play-offs

There was some concern when Michael van Gerwen was forced to withdraw from his semi-final match against Dimitri Van den Bergh last Thursday. With finals night of the 2023 Premier League Darts now just hours away however, the Dutchman is confident that he is back to full strength.

Even van Gerwen himself wasn't certain he'd be able to play to his best in the play-offs following the injury he picked up against Chris Dobey last week. But speaking to Online Darts, 'Mighty Mike' gives a resounding answer and sends out a warning to Michael Smith, Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton.

"I'm 100%, no excuses tomorrow night. You don't want all the hard work to be for nothing. You can always lose games, but not tomorrow night," he said defiantly at Wednesday's Premier League Darts press day at the O2 Arena in London.

"You need to make sure you're sharp and the fighting spirit is there. That's what I like and that's also why I stayed in the UK," he explains. "It's the second biggest tournament for players during the year and all those weeks of hard work you don't want to be for nothing. Of course you can always lose games but not tomorrow."
