“I’m absolutely petrified of heights!” – Damon Heta and Josh Rock take 192-metre SkyJump plunge ahead of New Zealand Darts Masters

Damon Heta and Josh Rock have taken on one of Auckland’s most daunting attractions ahead of the 2026 New Zealand Darts Masters, stepping off the city’s Sky Tower for a 192-metre SkyJump.

The PDC shared footage of the pair making the plunge during the build-up to this weekend’s World Series event, with both players suspended high above central Auckland before beginning the controlled descent towards the plaza below. Heta made his feelings clear before taking the leap. “I’m absolutely petrified of heights!” the Australian admitted in the video.

The SkyJump starts 192 metres above ground level on Auckland’s Sky Tower, the tallest building in New Zealand. Unlike a traditional bungee jump, it uses a wire-guided system to keep participants on a controlled vertical path during the descent.

The drop covers the equivalent of 53 floors, lasts around 11 seconds and can reach speeds of approximately 85 kilometres per hour before the jumper is slowed for a feet-first landing. It has become one of the best-known adventure attractions in central Auckland and provided a striking backdrop to the PDC’s pre-tournament promotion.

Heta and Rock will now switch their attention back to the oche when the New Zealand Darts Masters begins on Friday 14 August. The tournament continues through Saturday 15 August, with eight PDC representatives facing eight Oceanic players in the opening round before the remaining field returns for the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final.

Both men have been handed opponents with strong ties to the region. Heta opens against New Zealand’s Ben Robb, while Rock faces Australian veteran and former World Championship finalist Simon Whitlock.

The pair are part of a PDC contingent that also includes Gerwyn Price, Ross Smith, James Wade, Gian van Veen, Jonny Clayton and Stephen Bunting, with the Auckland event forming the latest stop on the 2026 World Series of Darts calendar.
