Stephen Bunting is into the quarter-finals on his Bahrain Darts Masters debut following an impressive 6-2 victory over Indian number one Nitin Kumar at the Bahrain International Circuit on Thursday. For 'The Bullet', Chris Dobey now awaits in the last eight.

It was a simple win really for 'The Bullet', who has emerged as a real fan's favourite over the course of his darting resurgence over the last couple of years. The world number five showcased no rust from the recent PDC World Darts Championship either, as his doubling particularly impressed in his victory over Kumar.

"It was a bit nervy to be honest. I know Nitin quite well so I knew I had a difficult game, I was ready for it and thankfully I got over the line," reflected Bunting afterwards in quotes collected by the PDC from his post-match interview. "I felt like I played really well there and I'll be ready to go for tomorrow."

2024 was probably Bunting's best year on the PDC circuit. The former Lakeside champion took his first PDC major title at the Masters, reached the final of multiple Players Championship events, made it through to the semi-final of the PDC World Darts Championship at the Alexandra Palace for the second time in his career and, as mentioned, has risen to number 5 in the PDC Order of Merit, securing himself a return to the World Series and the Premier League Darts.

"I'm riding the crest of a wave at the minute and I feel like I'm playing the best darts of my life," Bunting concludes his assessment. "So I need to keep doing what I'm doing and keep trying to improve."

Bunting returns to action in Bahrain later this Friday, where Chris Dobey awaits in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Bahrain Darts Masters.
