Paolo Nebrida was the big Asian success story of the 2025 PDC World Darts Championship, reaching the last 32. The Filipino has impressed again at the Bahrain Darts Masters too, stunning Rob Cross in the opening round to reach the quarter-finals.
In truth, the match was far from anything to write home about as both players struggled to find the doubles. As Cross nailed just 3 of 22 on the outer ring though, Nebrida punished to take a 6-3 victory. In the process, Nebrida has also made history as the first Filipino star to take a win against one of the PDC's elite on the World Series of Darts stage.

"I'm proud to win and I know there's more to come," said a delighted Nebrida afterwards, in quotes collected by the PDC from his post-match interview. "I felt good but Rob is a tough player. The 116 was important and when my first dart goes in, I have a chance."
Nebrida might need to find the extra level he touches upon too. In the last eight this Friday, the Filipino faces off against two-time world champion Peter Wright, who himself saw off the challenge of Nebrida's compatriot Alexis Toylo in the first round of the 2025 Bahrain Darts Masters.
