Mervyn King is into the semi-finals of The
Masters continuing his brilliant form as of late with a 10-3 demolition win over Nathan Aspinall in Milton Keynes.
King had a dart for a 10-0 win in the end and was averaging between 109-111 at the peak of his powers during the tie before coming through a potential late comeback from Aspinall who began to find his range when he was on the verge of defeat.
But it was 'The King' who reigned supreme with a 101.7 average and five 180's and now it will be Adrian Lewis or Gerwyn Price who face off next.
King came out the blocks with a relentless start finding double eight to go 4-0 up with a break and sending his average up to 111.
At the interval, he took out 94 to make it 5-0 with Aspinall having no answer to the prowess of 'The King'.
This continued when they returned from the break as he broke once more to make it 8-0. Aspinall hadn't done much wrong missing five darts at doubles but not a lot else and he soon went to the brink as King made it 9-0 to go one away from a whitewash.
It wasn't to be yet for King yet as he missed a dart at tops for the whitewash and Aspinall found double eight to sit at 9-1 and mean another session was set.
Aspinall started the better of the two when they returned going seven darts into a nine-darter before then concluding the leg to get another back and a break at that.
It was three consecutive legs for Aspinall as he rallied back from 9-3 down but he missed the opportunity to prolong the tie further and King returned for double 20 for the win.
