Littler opened the match with a mere 16-darter, but went wild after Smith tied for 1-1 with an 11-darter. A 12-darter and an 87 finish gave him a 3-1 lead before it became 4-1 via another 12-dart leg.

The second break followed in the sixth leg after Littler threw out 105 with two double tops. The 17-year-old Englishman then also gave Smith no chance to take another leg and put a 14-darter to put a 6-1 final score on the scoreboard.
