Katie Sheldon can now call herself a professional darts player. The 19-year-old Irishwoman signed a contract with
Target Darts.
Sheldon, who took part in the first-ever Women's World Matchplay last year and also performed strongly at the PDC Women's Series, was on Target Darts' 'Elite 1' training programme.
So, due to her good performance, she now gets a professional contract at Target Darts. Lorraine Winstanley, former winner of the Winmau World Masters and head of youth development with Elite 1 reacted.
“It’s a bitter sweet moment for me as Katie 100% deserves the step up to being a Pro Player and she’s more than talented enough and put in the hard work to get to where she is, I’m going to miss having her in the Elite 1," said Winstanley.
"I know she’s going to keep on improving and I’ll keep following her career and giving her support as often as I can. Congratulations Katie!”
