Dave Chisnall captured the title on Thursday evening at the 30th
Players Championship tournament of the season. He was too strong for Jim Williams in the final, 8-4.
For Chisnall, this marked the end of a strong
Pro Tour season. The Englishman won three European Tour titles and two Players Championship tournaments in 2023.
"I'm playing some good darts," Chisnall responded afterwards in conversation with commentator Dan Dawson. ''I think I played better yesterday than I did today, but luckily for me I got away with a few games early on and did the job."
The multiple major finalist also made it to the final on Wednesday, but then had to accept defeat against Gerwyn Price. ''I know I can play the game, I'm playing well and it shows - it's a good job there was no Gezzy here today to stop me!" Chisnall laughed.
Chisnall, who has now won 22 PDC ranking titles, is up to 11th in the world rankings. '"If I can keep winning these, it keeps me up the rankings. If I put some time in, I'll definitely be better - I'm alright at the moment."
