After another disappointing defeat for
Peter Wright concluded his 2023
Premier League Darts campaign, the Scot has lamented the fact that just nothing went the way he wanted it to this year.
Speaking after his Premier League had been brought to a close by a 6-2 defeat to Gerwyn Price, one in which Wright averaged only 87.53, the 53-year-old admitted how that game was a microcosm of his campaign in general.
“I obviously didn’t give Gezzy a game at all there. I just couldn’t get the dart to drop in the treble 20," said Wright. “It’s just been one of those Premier Leagues when nothing has gone for me.”
His opponent meanwhile advanced to the final of night 16 in Aberdeen. Price overcame Wright, Nathan Aspinall and almost the entirety of the Scottish crowd before finally succumbing in the final to Dimitri Van den Bergh who ended his own disappointing campaign on a high. A silver lining for Price is that he finished top of the table and will face off against Jonny Clayton next week on finals night.
