Luke Littler greets the crowd
Luke Littler's impenetrable dominance in recent time has started to get under the skin of some fans, resulting in some hostile receptions this year being guided his way as he continues to win the biggest titles on offer. Sky Sports presenter Emma Paton has shared her support for the 19-year-old sensation and advises fans to enjoy this dominance while comparing him to another sporting great in the process.

His recent World Matchplay title run really showcases the level above the competition he is. With a tournament average of 111.04, it smashed Phil Taylor's prior record as he did not see his match average dip below 109 in what was one of the great title winning campaigns.
He has won all six PDC televised majors in 2026, but will not settle there with his ambitions to secure the clean sweep of major titles in an unprecedented feat. Many have backed him to complete this as he continues to go from strength to strength on the oche.
However, with dominance comes its negatives. Certain darts fans and spectators have become tired and accustomed to Littler winning all the titles, venting their frustration towards 'The Nuke.' It largely stemmed from a spat with Gian van Veen in the Premier League Darts earlier this year, resulting in a streak of rough receptions being guided the way of Littler.
He stayed concentrated on the task at hand and went on to win the title in a last-leg decider against Luke Humphries, becoming very emotional at the end with everything that had occurred getting to him.

Paton sides with Littler while persuading fans to "chill out"

Paton is adamant that darts fans should embrace and joy this period of supremacy by the two-time world champion with what is currently happening not something that happens often in sport.

She told the Daily Star via Leasing Options: “It's so tough, right? Because I feel like fans are stuck between, 'Oh, we want to see Luke Littler do these amazing, incredible things that we've never seen before'.
Luke Littler celebrates.
Luke Littler has already racked up 29 PDC ranking titles in just over two years of being a professional
"But then also at the same time, 'Oh, it's boring seeing Luke Littler doing these amazing, incredible things that we've never seen before'.”
The presenter went a step further and admitted that this could be one of the greatest periods in darts history as Littler obliterates the record books. "So I feel like fans just need to enjoy this sort of generational talent. We've literally never seen this before," she said. "In time, this could be looked back on as him at his peak, and that could be it. I think fans just need to chill a little bit and try and enjoy it."

She used a different sporting icon, Usain Bolt, as another example similar to Littler. "It's like Usain Bolt from 2008 to 2016 when he was winning every major, whether it's the Olympics or the World Championships.
"I know darts is different because there are so many tournaments, and maybe that's the thing, really. But I think people just need to sit back and try and enjoy someone who is just a one-in-a-million talent, really, and chill out."
