On Monday night, the draw took place for the upcoming PDC World Darts Championship. Fifth seed Gerwyn Price will take on the winner of the duel between Connor Scutt and Krzysztof Kciuk.

'The Iceman' still has about three weeks to prepare for the World Championship and is doing so mainly with some exhibition tournaments. "I'm feeling confident, my game is in a good place" Price explains in conversation with Oche 180. "It's the biggest event of the year. Everyone looks forward to the World Championship. I'm sure even the Luke Humphries would give up the three trophies he's just won for this one."

Although Price's trophy cabinet hasn't been added too with a major singles title this year, the Welshman remains optimistic about his form. "I know how well I'm playing but there's a lot of good players out there. People have got to be close to their A-game to knock me out but that's what's happened. The Premier League final, the Grand Prix final and obviously in the Grand Slam, Gary Anderson played some of his best darts. So even though I'm losing, I'm playing really well and that puts me in good sted for the World Championships."

Price became world champion in 2021, but because of the corona pandemic, no spectators were allowed at Alexandra Palace then. Price beat Gary Anderson 7-3 in the final, but had to celebrate the biggest win of his life alone. "I've always said I want to win it with a crowd. Not just the crowd but more importantly my friends and family. I want to take the trophy home and not just have it on the kitchen table for six months but parade it around, go to my old school, to where I started playing darts and just show it off a little more. I never had the chance to do that last time."
