Jonny Clayton amid all the chatter about Luke Littler took the headlines as the first round concluded at the Winmau World Masters with 'The Ferret' producing a breathtaking display with a 112.77 average.
Clayton denied Martin Schindler in the process landing five 180's and converting 66% of his attempts at double in the process. He produced winning legs of 11, 16, 12, 10, 12 and 17 darts to cap off his display with a brace of 121 checkouts.
This as ever included his famous finger point. He now moves on to face Ryan Searle which bookends the evening session tonight in Milton Keynes and he is back confident and with a smile on his face.

“Everything clicked tonight,” reflected the world number seven, who won the Masters back in 2021.
“I had to produce my best against a player like Martin, and thankfully I did, so I’ve got a big smile on my face!
“I want to get back to my best, and I’m going to push hard. Hopefully I can repeat that performance tomorrow.”
As well as being the highest average ever at the Masters, Clayton's 112.77 was his personal best in the PDC, surpassing the 112.53 he registered at the Autumn Series behind closed doors in 2020 🐉 pic.twitter.com/AiqMhAKauU

Shouldn't the highest average on his profile be updated? The 111.33 from the European Championship 2019 is lower than this.
