The Australian Darts Masters gets underway tonight in Wollongong. In the World Series tournament, Luke Littler will take on Australian Rob Modra in the opening round. 'The Nuke' is looking to get back to winning ways after already losing in the opening round at the past World Matchplay.
The Australian Darts Masters is already the sixth tournament this year of the World Series of Darts. In addition to established names such as Luke Littler, Michael Smith, Luke Humphries, Dimitri Van den Bergh, Rob Cross, Peter Wright, Gerwyn Price, Damon Heta and Simon Whitlock, several local players from Australia and New Zealand will also be in action.
Littler has already won two World Series of Darts tournaments this year (Bahrain Darts Masters and Poland Darts Masters) and hopes to record another tournament victory in Wollongong. The 17-year-old Englishman starts this tournament as the first Order of Merit leader. “I’m really happy to be here in Australia,” claimed Littler, the number one seed this weekend. “This a new experience for me, just like everything else has been this year'', he said on PDC.tv.

Littler had a fantastic first six months at the PDC with, in addition to his World Championship final and two World Series tournament wins, tournament victories on the European Tour and a Players Championship title. He put the finishing touches on his career by winning the Premier League Darts at the end of May.
At the past World Matchplay, however, he went out in the first round after a defeat against Michael van Gerwen. "I’m really happy to be here in Australia,” claimed Littler. “This a new experience for me, just like everything else has been this year.
Setting his sights
For Littler, the Australian Darts Masters is the first of an Oceanic double header, as next week also follows the New Zealand Darts Masters. "I’ve really enjoyed playing on the World Series this year, and I would love to go to Australia and win at least one title!”
