Andy Hamilton played three major finals in his career. Including the final of the 2012 World Darts Championship, which he lost to Adrian Lewis. Still, he has not been active on the PDC Pro Tour for a while, but he wants to change that next week.
Hamilton, 57 now, is currently without a PDC Tour Card, but plans to attempt to recapture it at Q-School next week. 'The Hammer' has lost some 30 pounds over the last year and, he says, feels fitter than ever.
“My game’s in good shape, my whole life is,” said Hamilton. “I’ve lost a lot of weight over the last two years. I feel better in my mind, my focus is good, my concentration is good. And I feel better with my health as well. Sometimes, it’s not all about the darts. It’s about your health and my mental state is in a good place. I’m looking forward to going back to Q-School in January.
"I always said I wanted to end up on the PDC Tour. My career is not over yet. I still believe in my game. I may not reach the level of a while ago, but I still have good days. Let's see how it goes."
“I’ve always said I wanted to finish on the PDC Tour. My career’s not finished yet. I believe in my game still. I’m maybe not where I was years ago but I’m having good times with my game. Let’s see how it goes.
“I’ve been to Q-School a few times now so I know what’s expected. Now I’ve lost the weight and feel fitter, I’ve got more stamina, so the full week shouldn’t affect me so much.”
Diabetes
Hamilton is especially pleased that he now lives a healthier life. “I’ve got diabetes, which has affected my life a lot. I’m getting older – it’s never too late to change things – and I just felt it was time. I lost 5st and reversed my diabetes, so I’m not injecting anymore.”
Congratulations @LukeTheNuke180, first of many 🏆
