Jim Williams battles past Bialecki in opening round of PDC World Darts Championship, sets up Wade clash

Jim Williams has returned to the PDC World Darts Championship with victory over Sebastian Bialecki and will now face James Wade in the second round.

Williams twice recovered from a set down to edge out the teenage debutant 3-2 in the opening round with a 91 average, four 180's and 42% on the outer ring.

Bialecki took the first set without reply for a superb start with Williams only averaging 73. But the Welshman squared it up at 1-1 breaking on double 16 with Bialecki waiting to force a decider.

A 144 on double 17 saw Williams hold throw and make it 2-2 in the third set. But Bialecki hit a 136 to seal it in superb fashion.

Williams hit double 16 to hold in the fourth set and the same target to break. Double four saw ‘The Quiff’ send it all the way. A 130 checkout saw Williams open up with a break to begin set three.

He shut the door with a 76 checkout crept in on double eight to go one away. An 80 checkout saw Williams seal it.
