Jimmy van Schie and Stefan Bellmont to face off for World Darts Championship qualification in Kalkar

Jimmy van Schie and Stefan Bellmont will battle it out to see who walks away with the World Darts Championship ticket at the qualifying tournament for Western European players in Kalkar.
Van Schie reached the semifinals after victories over Fabian Herz (6-4), Jan Zagel (6-2), Owen Roelofs (6-3), Stefan Dees (6-1) and Jody Tobback (6-1). He then settled with Maik Kuivenhoven (6-5) in a cracker. Bellmont prevented a Dutch final by beating Berry van Peer 6-1. Before that, the Swiss had already won over Moreno Blom (6-5), Patrick Link (6-0), Bert de Lange (6-2), Timothy Verbrugghe (6-2) and Jurjen van der Velde (6-3).
The annual qualifying tournament almost always produces a Dutch or Belgian winner. Last year was a rare exception, when Thibault Tricole ran away with the World Championship spot. In 2012, the qualifying tournament had a Spanish winner when Carlos Rodriguez won the qualifier.

- Many fans had a sour taste in their mouth by the end of this match. Mike was cruising to victory, playing beautiful darts, when the whistling started in earnest, particularly on his doubles. You could see in Mike's face that it was really affecting his concentration. The referee should have asked for order, just to show that the whistling is unacceptable, and Luke Littler could also have done his part to quieten down the crowd instead of "taking full advantage.:" I put that down to his age though. He needs some good advice on this from his management team and/or more seasoned players. It's got to be about who's best on the night, not who is being harassed by the crowd. Luke Littler played well to get back into the game and win, but it was a hollow victory. If he goes on to win the tournament, that triumph too will be tainted because of this match.
