Jones looking to upset the odds: 'If I turn up I will give Joe Cullen one hell of a game'

Wayne Jones managed a 3-2 win over Ciaran Teehan in his opening game at the World Championships but was frustrated with himself after practicing so well before the game.

He said: “I was throwing so well backstage, 180, 180, 180, and there, I was struggling to throw three straight darts so I was annoyed with myself about that. A win is a win but I am annoyed about the way I threw.

“Atleast I now have a chance to put it right but it’s difficult when you’re practising so well but you come up onto the stage and you can’t produce the same good darts.”

Jones will face International Darts Open winner, Joe Cullen, who in moments this year has produced some of the very best when it mattered most. Jones made light of facing such tough round two opposition.

“I’m sure he’s terrified after that. No, I think he knows I can play better than that. It’s on me. If I turn up I think I can give him one hell of a game and I think I’ll beat him if I play well.”
