Josh Rock has completed the last 16 lineup at the 2025 International Darts Open in Riesa as the fight for glory at the 3rd European Tour event of 2025 really heats up, joining the likes of Luke Humphries, Gerwyn Price, Peter Wright and Nathan Aspinall among others in booking a Sunday return.

With a battle of former and current PDC World Youth Champions closing out the Saturday evening session in Riesa, Gian van Veen took the early advantage, breaking the throw in the opening leg. Rock though, wasted no time in firing back, immediately breaking throw in return. Van Veen though, levelled the contest again in style with a 149 finish.

As the pair then traded holds of throw, the tension was tangibly building with every leg closer the pair got to the finish line. Neither looked like cracking though, with the standard if anything only getting better and better. Given that Rock had the advantage of throw though, when the Northern Irishman pinned double 16 for a 5-4 lead, 'Rocky' had control. He didn't wait for a decider either, pressuring Van Veen in leg 10 to break his opponent and seal the 6-4 victory, averaging a very impressive 107.61 in the process.

In an evening session that saw victories for the likes of Dimitri van den Bergh, Raymond van Barneveld, Andrew Gilding, Peter Wright and Nathan Aspinall, it was arguably the session's two star attractions - Gerwyn Price and Luke Humphries that impressed the most on the evening, albeit for slightly different reasons.

Price, taking on World Grand Prix champion Mike de Decker had things far from all his own way. In fact, the former world champion averaged less than his Belgian opponent and had a lower checkout success rate. In the end though, that still didn't prove enough for De Decker to get the better of Price with the four-time International Darts Open champion keeping his dream alive of a fabulous 5th title in Riesa with a 6-4 victory.

Humphries meanwhile, gave away a one-leg head start to Dirk van Duijvenbode in his second round tie. From there though, the world number one was not in a giving mood at all as he reeled off the next six legs without reply to seal a relatively comfortable 6-1 victory over the big Dutchman and move through to the last 16.
