Joyce speaks ahead of World Grand Prix opener against Wright: "My confidence is a bit low at the minute"

Ryan Joyce claimed his maiden PDC ranking title during the Summer Series but despite that has admitted that, he is suffering with a lack of confidence ahead of his opening World Grand Prix clash with Peter Wright.

Joyce has said that he is tinkering with his equipment and is ready for a big fight against 'Snakebite'.

“I feel OK and looking forward to it but I wish I was coming into it in better form. My confidence is a bit low at the minute," said Joyce to Darts World.

“I’ve been fiddling about changing flights and stems. Just trying to find some improvement but it’s gone the other way, lost a bit of confidence. I’ve started to lose a lot of games. So I’ve gone back to my old equipment and been practising so I’ll see what happens. "

“I’ve been through it so many times, every player has ups and downs of form. All it takes is one good win and you’re right back up on top form.

“I’ve played Peter a few times before, he’s a nice bloke, we’ve had some good games. I don’t really think who I’m playing ever. I just think about what I’m doing myself and try to make sure I’m playing well.

“I could make no mistakes, play brilliant and still lose. It’d a waste of time worrying about it!”
