Martin Lukeman has been on an excellent run in recent months. He reached the final of the 2024 Grand Slam of Darts and has already managed to qualify for the second round at the 2025 PDC World Darts Championship.
Lukeman owes his success in part, to a very special diet, which has seen 'Smash' already lose 20 pounds. "It's only meat, eggs, butter. No carbohydrates. We eat blueberries occasionally, but very little fruit. No salad. It works fine. I don't get hungry anymore, no cravings. I get used to it. I take electrolytes in the morning, because you have to take in a lot of salt if you only eat meat. I feel very good," Lukeman told Sportnieuws.nl.

In addition, the 39-year-old Englishman also suffered from sleep apnea, which can lead to excessive snoring, fatigue and irritability, among other symptoms. Lukeman now sleeps with a special CPAP device, a type of mask that keeps the airways open during his sleep. "I sleep well for once," he says. "I wake up and feel refreshed. I'm not so groggy in the morning. It used to take me two hours to wake up properly and feel groggy."
Lukeman is coming off a 3-1 defeat of Indian Nitin Kumar in the first round of the World Darts Championship and will meet 23rd-seeded Andrew Gilding on Monday afternoon.
👊 @SmashLukeman180 is through to the second round of the PDC World Darts Championship.
