Mervyn King like many players has had a busy schedule towards the back end of 2021 with TV tournaments and ProTours coming thick and fast.
But for King, there is an issue specifically with the blocks of Super Series tournaments straight after the European Championship which prompted him to pull out of a day of action.
"We're in Austria for the European finals and I came back there with no sleep at all on the Sunday evening and then managed to get to Barnsley for the morning about an hour before we were meant to start. Getting there was a monumental effort and then qualified for this so how the heel I done that I do not know. I thought my throw was going, I thought my head was going," said King to Online Darts.
"When you turn up and you've got four or five days on the spin it's too much, no player needs that, no player wants that. They're all saying the same but it's always within the circle. I'll be the first to tell you, it's too much."
"I can appreciate things being the way they are with the pandemic and Coronavirus and to be honest, I'm grateful we've got anything to play in at all. But please go back to playing Saturday, Sunday and maybe a Friday or a Monday if we need a qualifier."
