On the final day of the European Q-School, there was success for Jeffrey de Zwaan. The 29-year-old Dutchman, a former World Matchplay semi-finalist, crowned himself one of the two day winners and thus secured his PDC Tour Card for at least the next two years.
So De Zwaan returns to the Pro Tour after a year out. It is already the fourth time in his career that he has earned a PDC Tour Card at Q-School. “This time it wasn’t easy at all,” he laughs in conversation with the PDC afterwards. "I had a really tough week."

Letting a lead slip

Despite being one of the pre-Q-School favourites to get a Tour Card, De Zwaan insists he was far from comfortable during the week. “I got through the first stage on the second day, but then final stage, first day, I went to the final, was 5-1 up and missed so many matchdarts," he recalls. "But no, I'm really happy that fortunately I got back."
On the final day, however, we saw a vintage strong De Zwaan in action. “I played really well today,” assessed ‘The Black Cobra’ happily. "I'm really happy with how I played and I'm looking forward to the next two years."
As mentioned, De Zwaan has proven pedigree on the biggest PDC stages, having previously reached the quarterfinals of the World Grand Prix and the semifinals of the World Matchplay. Still, he refuses to state big ambitions. "We'll see what happens," he says with a wry smile. "I know what I'm capable of producing, but we'll need to talk with the management first. And then just see what happens afterwards," De Zwaan concludes.
