Mervyn King has continued his brilliant form as of late by seeing off Max Hopp in a 3-1 sets victory at the 2020/21
PDC World Darts Championship which sets up a meeting with Jose de Sousa in the Third Round.
After a blistering start, King was pushed at times by Hopp but emerged the victor with a 99.6 average and five 180's.
This blistering start saw King sweep the opening set with a sensational 110 average with 50% on the doubles as he took the game to Hopp early on.
This lead was at 2-0 in sets with Hopp missing double 11 for a 142 checkout in the deciding leg of the second set. King then stepped in for double 16 for a 14-darter to edge it and double his lead.
King though was forced into another set with the Bradwell ace wiring double 18 for a 156 checkout and Hopp saved the match in that decider to halve the deficit.
But in a pivotal set, Hopp missed double 16 for a 2-0 lead and King landed double 10 to level and broke throw from there to move within a leg which he claimed on double 18 for the victory.
