Some big results have come out of the
German Darts Championship Last 16 so far this afternoon in Hildesheim with
Mervyn King thrashing
Michael van Gerwen being the main one.
Before the match began, it was duly noted regarding King's losing streak against Van Gerwen on the European Tour but 'The King' came out and produced a 6-1 win over the World Number One averaging 100.2 and hitting three 180's en route.
The former World Master took advantage of only an 89 average from Mighty Mike to dump him out and make his woes continue.
Also with Gerwyn Price now out of the competition last night, it means Peter Wright will now likely become the favourite if he can get through his tie against Jonny Clayton next up.
Or could
James Wade add to his tally of European Tour titles. Reaching Halle 39 late on last night due to a missed flight, he saw off home hope Nico Kurz without a great deal of fuss and produced some quality darts to see off Mensur Suljovic with ease 6-1.
Wade averaged 103.2 in victory with 66% on the doubles and it included an early flourish with a 110 finish being the highlight of the opening exchanges. He is now through to tonight alongside Mervyn King.
