Proceedings reach their conclusion on Sunday at the German Darts Championship with the Last 16 the first stop this afternoon with some quality ties set in Hildesheim.
It all begins with the World Number One, MIchael van Gerwen who began his quest to win his first European Tour title of the season with victory over Steve Lennon. He will take on a familiar foe in Mervyn King, who himself will have desires to go further due to a World Grand Prix spot which needs cementing. A big match for 'The King'.
Mensur Suljovic follows that up against James Wade, with both players on form as of late it could be one to watch in terms of best matches of the afternoon session.
As will Peter Wright against Jonny Clayton. 'Snakebite' piled in a 106 average to see off Michael Smith last night while for 'The Ferret', his spot in Coventry was further secured with victory over Chris Dobey so like King, he will look to spring a shock this afternoon.
A 106 average was good but wasn't the best of Saturday with Dave Chisnall gaining that accolade after seeing off Lukas Wenig with a 108 average. Another game that could be excellent if both are on top form is the St Helens ace taking on Nathan Aspinall next in one of the standout ties.
Home hope Max Hopp is the only player left from Germany after starting with five on Saturday and he will take on Danny Noppert with the Hildesheim crowd who have returned for the European Tour this weekend hoping to rally behind 'The Maximiser'. While 'Noppie' has his own sights set not only on the title but to establish his spot as Dutch Number Two ahead of the World Cup of Darts.
Daryl Gurney is one of those players who accounted for a Host Nation player on Saturday in Gabriel Clemens but his next task will be a lot tougher in the form of Glen Durrant, who saw off Scott Waites in his opener. One of a few of the top names in the field not to win a European Tour title yet so the Teesside ace will look to make that right this weekend.
From not winning your first European Tour title to winning your first ranking title, Devon Petersen hasn't got one yet but defeated Gerwyn Price on Saturday who he should have beaten in the final of a PDC Autumn Series a few weeks ago. He takes on Rob Cross who is playing himself back into form. If 'The African Warrior' brings his A game of late though, it could be the start of a title winning weekend.
Then finally it is one of the most consistent players on the PDC European Tour in Krzysztof Ratajski taking on a fellow first time winner on the European Tour last year in Joe Cullen in a bumper end to the afternoon session in Hildesheim.
