Kleermaker edges past Vandenbogaerde, Lukeman claims maiden European Tour win over Hendriks

Martijn Kleermaker has seen off Mario Vandenbogaerde in a 6-4 victory as the opening session at the German Darts Championship continues in Hildesheim.

Kleermaker edged through in the end with three 180's and a 93.2 average and next has Rob Cross in his sights when the seeded players come into play tomorrow.

It was a tie which was dominated by holds of throw with the pivotal points coming towards the end of the clash including a 104 from Kleermaker after a dropped dart.

But after it was made 4-4, Vandenbogaerde missed 66 for double 20 to go one away, Kleermaker hit 96 to break and make it 5-4 and he was throwing for the tie.

Vandenbogaerde missed the chance to break back and the Dutchman took aim at 79 on double 11 sealing the win.

Before that, Martin Lukeman continued his terrific start to the year with 'Smash' easing past Jimmy Hendriks 6-2 to claim his first win on the European Tour.

Another in-form player will await next in Damon Heta. In his tie against 'Captain Jimmy' though he hit a 92 average, two 180's and 46.2% on the doubles in an all round polished display finishing with a flourish in a 136 checkout.
