Waites and Soutar set up clashes with Clayton and Van den Bergh as German Darts Championship begins

Scott Waites and Alan Soutar are successfully through to the second round at the German Darts Championship as the action begins in Hildesheim.

Waites started proceedings off and the multiple Lakeside World Champion will have to be better against Jonny Clayton next up but came through a 6-3 winner.

This was with an 87 average and a high checkout of 72 as both players had mirroring checkout percentages of 27.3% albeit for 'Scotty 2 Hotty', he had double the attempts.

While Soutar endeared himself to the German crowd as he became a fans favourite in Hildesheim and he also moved through with a more clinical display.

He averaged 89, hit three 180's, a high checkout of 107 with 54.5% on the doubles as he moved through also 6-3 against the Dutchman who also performed well but it was the Scot who held the edge on the scoring which proved the difference.
