Krzysztof Ratajski produced a strong run last weekend at the European Darts Grand Prix on the European Tour, reaching the semi-finals. In the quarter-finals he saw off Dutchman Danny Noppert, but afterwards the focus was not so much on the result. ‘The Freeze’ allegedly accused the Pole during the match of loudly clicking his darts.

Noppert, who by reaching the quarter-finals is back up to world number 10 in the latest PDC Order of Merit update, looked visibly irritated on stage throughout the match, seemingly towards his Polish opponent.
The Dutchman took more time between his throws, glanced around repeatedly and seemed clearly annoyed by Ratajski’s movements with his darts in hand. The former UK Open champion’s body language spoke volumes as the match approached its climax.
After the match, ‘The Polish Eagle’ admitted in his on-stage interview that he was completely surprised by Noppert’s allegations. He insisted he was unaware of any wrongdoing: “I didn’t expect it, because I didn’t feel I was doing anything wrong. I didn’t hear anything.”
The Pole conceded the situation did knock him out of his rhythm. “It was my mistake. I was in shock and then missed three darts at a double because I didn’t understand what was happening.”
Krzysztof Ratajski celebrates broadly with his arms wide.
Ratajski reached the semi-finals on the European Tour for the second tournament in a row last weekend.
Despite the unrest, Ratajski showed character. He battled back from 5-4 down, survived a match dart from Noppert and ultimately edged it 6-5 in a nerve-racking decider.

Afterward the pair exchanged words again on stage. A handshake eventually followed — a brief yet telling gesture of respect after a heated contest.
One round later Ratajski’s tournament ended in the semi-finals. The Pole made a disastrous start and missed no fewer than 10 darts at a double in the first three legs, leaving him 3-0 down. He never managed to claw back the deficit and lost 7-5.
