Luke Humphries has hit back and said that he will keep quiet in future when it comes to expressing his true feelings after he was berated by some sections for his comments at the International Darts Open.
Humphries opened up about being emotionless on the oche and that he's playing too much right now. Some saw it as 'Cool Hand Luke' being superbly open about his current darting predicament instead of bottling up.
Especially as a player too who has not been shy previously in revealing his own battles with mental health and depression. “When I’m up on stage I am just feeling emotionless," said Humphries. "It’s weird and it’s me being honest to all the fans.
“I feel like my emotions are just all over the place. It’s not that I don’t want to be here — it just seems a chore for me at the moment.
“It’s just too much darts. I’m playing too much. I think I need a break. I’m emotionless and it is not good for my mental state. The emotion was drained from there. Usually I have the fight in me."
These comments were posted by Sky Sports and prompted replies including: "Imagine if he actually worked for a living.." as well as "You throw some arrows and get paid thousands let’s be real."
This prompted Humphries as mentioned to hit back and call out those who are berating him for being vulnerable and describing how he feels honestly.
"Considering the comments, people not understanding what I meant… Will be the last time I ever confess my real feelings to the public. Everything I say or ever do just never seems to be good enough for anybody.. as long as no one complains when we all give the same answers in interviews like robots and not our true feelings. Then everyone I guess we’ll be happy, or usually will still find a way to moan at us," said Humphries on X.
