Laura Turner spoke on the obstacles she faced on her darting journey in an article shared yesterday on International Women's Day but how do female players get into darts who aren't already involved in the sport.
Turner was asked for her advice on the Love the Darts Podcast and was forthcoming in wanting to help others but also giving a range of advice.
"It's accessible as a sport so I'd say first things first, get the right equipment. If you've got the space at home, get yourself a dart board, get yourself some darts. Get that base of equipment that's the first thing.
"You've got organisations across the country, you've got the JDC. You've got academies that take on the younger generation to try and train them in the basics and it's everything from maths to scoring to how you stand. Also getting used to that social environment and match play. That's a really big thing.
"But you can always get in touch with me on Twitter, I'm always happy to have a chat with people. I do that quite regularly. There are plenty of opportunities but I do understand that sometimes they are quite hard to access if you're not in the sport."
