Lennon surprised with run to World Cup of Darts final: 'I didn't honestly think we would get that far'

Steve Lennon reached the final of the World Cup of Darts with William O'Connor for Republic of Ireland and he summed it up in the aftermath.

Lennon admitted that he was shocked that they reached the final. This has also given his confidence with the Carlow ace wanting to do even better now and he added that individually it will help them push on.

He said also that the European Tour was also instrumental in their development and for him and O'Connor, he believes it will continue to do so.

"Getting to the final was immense. I thought we would have a good run, but I didn't honestly think we would get that far," Lennon admitted.

"I think we played brilliantly as a team and hopefully next year we will be able to do even better.

"Individually, we will take all the positives out of the weekend. Confidence is on a high even though we were gutted to lose the final, and we can both push on from here.

"I agree that playing on the European Tour has definitely helped our development a lot and will continue to do so."
