Adrian Lewis is through to the Quarter-Finals of the World Matchplay after seeing off Danny Noppert in a brilliant 11-7 victory.
The tournament has been blown wide open and this presents a huge chance for the 2013 runner-up as he aims to return to the winners' circle. He averaged 99.8 in the end and will now face Dimitri van den Bergh.
Lewis produced a fine start to the tie taking out 88 to break throw and go 4-3 up. He squandered eight darts at doubles from there which allowed Noppert to snatch a break back for 4-4.
He lead with a 107 checkout to go 5-4 up from there but it was locked in at 5-5 at the break with the tie invoking into a real battle. Lewis was on a 96.4 average and Noppert was back at 5/7 on the doubles.
When they returned, Lewis broke throw with a brilliant 120 checkout to lead 6-5 but the back and forth continued with Noppert breaking back to level at 6-6.
'Jackpot' regained the upperhand at 7-6 up and opened up a two-leg advantage at 8-6 up. He broke again to go ever closer to the finishing line at 9-6 up.
He went one away from there and despite Noppert keeping himself in it at 10-7 behind, Lewis surged to victory.
