Paul Lim continues to roll back the years with a brilliant comeback victory over Luke Humphries in his 25th World Championship appearance.
Lim came from 2-0 down to defeat Humphries 3-2 in a tension filled tie which now sees the legendary 'Singapore Slinger' into the second round and a meeting with World Matchplay champion Dimitri van den Bergh.
Humphries started the tie well and wrapped up the opening set 3-1 having been more accurate on the doubles.
Lim on the other hand missed four darts at doubles which proved the difference maker at the start.
'Cool Hand Luke' started to look comfortable though and went 2-0 up in sets wrapping up the second set with a 103 checkout alongside three 180's and 50% on the doubles as he took the game to 'The Singapore Slinger'.
Lim though wasn't down and out yet with the 66-year-old trailing 2-1 in sets after claiming the third 3-1 with a missed 126 followed up by double six.
Humphries took the first leg of a pivotal set with a 180 and double 13 after Lim was down to a finish first but Lim replied with a 121 checkout to level it up.
But suddenly after Humphries missed a match dart, Lim took advantage with checkouts of 56 and 84 to suddenly force a deciding set.
More drama was to come as Humphries missed twelve darts to go within a leg of victory and Lim led for the first time and was throwing for the match.
Humphries was down to 81 on Lim's throw but Lim hit 135 to leave 53. A dart was missed at double 13 by Humphries and Lim hit a brilliant 53 checkout to claim victory.
