Lineup for Quarter-Finals of World Matchplay creates special anomaly in PDC history

The lineup for the quarterfinals of the 2024 World Matchplay has been announced. According to prominent darts podcast, Weekly Dartscast, the eight quarterfinalists have created a special milestone.

The eight players who qualified for the quarterfinals of the World Matchplay have all won a major before. That is unprecedented at a PDC major in the past, according to Weekly Dartsscast.
Eleven-time major winner James Wade faces off with Ross Smith in the first quarterfinal. Smith surprisingly won the European Championship in 2022, which for now is the only major on his record.
In the second quarterfinal, Luke Humphries and Dimitri van den Bergh will face each other. Humphries now stands at four major titles, while Van den Bergh has two in his pocket since this year.
The most successful player in the last eight is Michael van Gerwen. The 35-year-old Dutchman has already won 48 majors in his career. He takes on Andrew Gilding, who won his only major just at the expense of Van Gerwen. 'Goldfinger' beat 'Mighty Mike' in sensational fashion in the final of the 2023 UK Open.
The final two quarterfinalists are Michael Smith and Rob Cross. Smith has won two majors in his career, while Cross' tally already stands at four major titles.

I think if he stuck around the BDO he definitely would have been World Champion, should have won in 2014, he never really showed any of his talent in the PDC. - This is exactly what I mean,littler survives the 1st round,I think you'll find a lot of other players did. Can you just report on the real sport,and not just 1 person. I like Luke,but this is getting boring now,as Kevin painter once said to Taylor!! The sport is about every player,not 1 who everyone seems to have put the sport on the map.,which he hasn't,he's just got in when the money is massive.
